Message in Time Space


“It must be a trick of the light,” Fleur said. “That’s not possible. The power is out.

She looked again behind her, searching for anything that might be reflecting on the computer screen, creating the illusion of a face. Aaden also looked around, but he couldn’t find anything to explain the phenomenon.

“Aaden … what is that?” she said, her voice a mix of curiosity and fear.

“I have no idea, but I’m glad you can see it. I thought I was going crazy, my imagination playing tricks on me. But you see it, a face… right?”

Fleur nodded slowly, transfixed by the loathsome image. 

He refused to take his eyes from the screen. Although he sensed Fleur’s nod, he wanted her assurance. “You’re seeing this, a face, right?”

Fleur gasped, “Yeesss.”

Studying the image, which was stronger than ever against the black background of the powerless computer screen, he thought, ‘Who are you?’

As if in answer to his thought, the facial features dissolved, the lines rearranging into letters, forming a word in the same dark reddish hue – Belial.
